Ground
Cover Plants
There are certain ground cover
plants which associate very well with roses.
Any flower which attracts
too much attention to itself by its bright coloring should not be planted near the rose, if both bloom at the
same time.
The whole beauty of the rose
is lost when three or four rose trees in the middle of a bed are surrounded by a bright band of geraniums and
lobelias.
For really good effect all
ground cover plants in the rose bed should be of light and graceful character, and those with thick leaves and a
heavy habit of growth should be discarded, and this not only for appearance sake, but on account of the goodness
they take out of the soil and their aptness to choke the rose trees, especially if these latter are dwarfs or
bush roses.
Bush
Roses
In dealing with bush
roses, the plants growing beneath them must be carpeters in the strict sense of the term, and not reach higher than four or five inches, if
only two or three so much the better.

ground cover for roses to choose from:
Sedium Acre
Armeria

Sedum
